Our US-based team is ready to develop products that drive your business forward.
What we can do for you:
Data Package Development
Whether you are setting up production for the first time, or re-shoring manufacturing to avoid tariffs, your manufacturer needs complete, clear, un-ambiguous documents to quote and produce your product. Our product engineers are accustomed to developing complete data packages for product that include 3D CAD, 2D drawings, Gerber files, BOM's, and assembly drawings. Don't have access to your existing data package? No problem - we can create a new one.
Manufacturer Identification and Vetting
You get access to our network of trusted manufacturing partners - which includes overseas and domestic manufacturers. Many SGW Designworks clients use manufacturers in our network. We are also able to identify, vet, and recommend manufacturing partners outside of our network. We can even help you negotiate production prices and NRE's, ensuring you get a good deal and predictable long term production.
Optimization for Production
When we line up manufacturing or move a product ot anew manufacturer for a client company, we optimize the product itself to be compatible with the manufacturers processes. We also do this when moving a product from one manufacturer to another: each manufacturer has different process constraints and requirements. We update your design package accordingly, with full design revision history.
Design for Manufacture and Assembly
In order to hit your COGS targets, careful consideration for manufacture-ability and assembly is required. Our engineers apply decades of manufacturing experience to ensure that the product itself and the product design package is optimized for the target production volumes. We know how to work with manufacturers, what they expect, and what they wish you didn't know.
Sourcing
Most products are made up of custom parts as well as purchased parts. We will help you decide what to make and what to buy. We can line up multiple manufacturers to produce subassemblies for a given product, which then come together for final assembly and QC.
Tooling, First-Articles Inspection
The rubber meets the road when tooling is cut. We will be your advocate during the tool-up process, and our engineering team typically is involved with inspection and approval of first-articles. If you are re-shoring your manufacturing, you might find that you need to have new tooling produced. We can lead that process, ensuring maximum speed and minimum cost.
Avoiding Tariffs
Increased net production costs mean challenges for your organization. We know that setting up production with a manufacturer domestically can eliminate this burden. But we also knwo there are other options as well. We help you see all your options, and pick the ones that fit youir business, budget, and risk tolerance best. Ultimately, the goal is for you to have high quality product to sell at a predicatble cost.
